A Pioneering Spirit Buck Creek Veterinary Clinic was opened by Dr. Doug Schweikhardt and his wife Ruth in October 1983 at its present location. The site was originally a gas station and took a little remodeling to turn it into a functioning veterinary clinic. The practice was mixed, focusing primarily on food animal and small animal medicine and surgery. Though the practice started in difficult economic times it flourished through a commitment to quality veterinary medicine, a compassionate approach to handling animals, and a genuine concern for clients' needs as well.

In 2001, Dr. Schweikhardt made the very difficult decision to discontinue the food animal medicine practice. This decision allowed him to focus more time and energy on the expanding small animal medicine practice and allow more family time. Many new tools were added to assist in providing better quality small animal care such as x-ray, blood chemistry analysis, gas anesthesia, and computer technology. Grooming and boarding services were added and expanded.

A Brighter Future By 2004, the facility was becoming inadequate to provide the services needed and deserved so construction began on the current veterinary clinic. In 2005, the new facility was opened providing a roomy, modern, and comfortable environment for the clients of Buck Creek Veterinary Clinic.

Our facility offers dedicated areas for surgery, boarding, grooming, isolation, separated dog and cat hospitalization, and radiology. Our clinic offers a more spacious and comfortable waiting area, exam rooms, and treatment areas. We are continually adding improvements to serve you and your companion better such as digital radiography, laser therapy, and upgrades to our blood analysis equipment.
